Social Emotional Learning or SEL helps students successfully develop personal strengths including grit, tenacity, perseverance and a positive academic mindset. When these concepts are promoted, students possess the basic competencies, work habits, and values for career and life. SEL helps students manage their emotions, develop problem solving skills, set positive goals and show empathy towards others.
SEL is taught in the classroom by the classroom teacher. The concepts of SEL are reinforced within the regular guidance instruction from the counselor.
Behavioral competencies your child will work on include:
- Self-awareness
- Self-management
- Social awareness
